Central Connecticut State's Matt Hunter has earned the StatSheet NEC Player of the Week for the week ending March 4th. StatSheet's NEC Freshman of the Week is Shivaughn Wiggins from Mount St. Mary's. Also, Quinnipiac's Ousmane Drame is the StatSheet NEC 6th Man of the Week. Hunter put up huge numbers in scoring (15.7 pts per game), assists (5 per game), and rebounding (8 per game). The Central Connecticut State junior played well in wins against Quinnipiac and St. Francis (PA) and a loss to Robert Morris.

Hunter led the Blue Devils in rebounding with 8 and added 3 assists in a close 67-65 win against Quinnipiac. He followed that up with a team-leading 23 points plus an additional 9 assists in a narrow 84-81 victory over St. Francis (PA). Finally, Hunter led all scoring and rebounding with 17 points and 9 rebounds, closing out the week with an 81-61 loss to Robert Morris.

This is the second StatSheet NEC Player of the Week award for Matt Hunter. He has also received multiple honorable mentions. The runner-up this week is Alex Francis, a junior from Bryant. Honorable mention goes to senior Jamal Olasewere from Long Island.

StatSheet NEC Freshman of the Week: Mount St. Mary's's Shivaughn Wiggins

Shivaughn Wiggins averaged 30 minutes of playing time as a starter for Mount St. Mary's. He was number one among all NEC freshmen in both scoring (22.0 pts per game) and free throws (8.5 per game). In a 77-63 win over Monmouth, Wiggins topped the Mountaineers in scoring with 16 points and tossed in 2 assists. Then in a massive 103-82 win against Fairleigh Dickinson, he led all scoring with 28 points and also put up 3 steals.

Amazingly, Shivaughn Wiggins has won the StatSheet NEC Freshman of the Week 4 times. The runner-up is Xavier Harris from Fairleigh Dickinson. Greg Brown from St. Francis (PA) receives honorable mention. Tyrone O`Garro was the highest ranking freshman from Monmouth and finished 9th.

StatSheet NEC 6th Man of the Week: Quinnipiac's Ousmane Drame

Ousmane Drame, a 6-9 Sophomore forward, played an average of 23 minutes over three games for the Bobcats. In a 67-65 loss to Central Connecticut State, Drame put up 11 points and 13 rebounds. After that, in a 78-67 win against St. Francis (NY), he racked up 7 points and 5 rebounds. Finally, in a 96-90 loss to Long Island, Drame put up 21 points on 70% shooting.

This is the second StatSheet NEC 6th Man of the Week win for Ousmane Drame. Joe O`Shea, a sophomore guard from Bryant, is the runner up. Kelvin Parker, a sophomore forward from Mount St. Mary's, receives honorable mention. Monmouth has yet to win the StatSheet NEC Player of the Week award this season.
